Escape to Smithfield
If you're sick of over priced drinks, groups of drunken stags and shamrocks and blarney stones, then get yourself to Smithfield Stoneybatter, just a 15 minute walk from the Spire. Here you can find really lively bars without all the overcrowding of Temple Bar. Whether you're looking for soul, blues or trad music, this alternative quarter has just a great selection of real dublin pubs for you.
The Dice Bar
It doesn't get more real than this pub. It's a small pub on the edge of the square with loud music and sticky floors. This is Dublin's best alternative rock bar. The Dice Bar is a favourite with music lovers from all over Dublin, near and far. This bar has an electric feel every day of the week. Just a two minute walk from the Smithfield Luas stop on the Red line, this is definitely worth a visit.
The Cobblestone

Saw dust on the floors and fiddle players in the corner, this bar has all the authenticity a real Dublin pub. There are plenty of traditional bars in Dublin's City Centre but if you want to move away from the large groups of stags or tour buses, without traveling too far, hop on the Red Luas to Smithfield and head to the north end of the square.
Frank Ryans

Pool table, beer mats on the floor and filled with locals from the Smithfield Stoneybatter. This bar is long, dark and full of character. They play classic rock 'n roll along with soulful ballads. The walls are filled with music history and the seats are filled with local history.
